GENDER INEQUALITY : CAREER

Human life is a mixture of pleasure and pain. For good or bad, each memory qualifies as
life-changing. But the most revolutionary experience was the married life of my brother. As the
trees bowed to the movement of the wind, memories of Ravi’s life flashed through his mind
that afternoon. Thus, water begins to collect at the bottom lid of Ravi’s eye. While drinking a
cup of tea, he was muttering in his mind about an unforgettable incident in his life. That time,
he wish that the incident should not happen again in his life.
Ravi got married to the girl he loved. Subsequently, he took on family responsibilities.
Months rolled by and problems began to arise in his home life. However, he didn’t think much
of it and tried to live with his wife. One day, Leela asked her husband about her going to work.
Ravi slammed the phone down on the table and stormed out of the room.
“No. You can’t go to work. What’s the need for a girl to work,” Ravi said through clenched
teeth. His wife was very emotional and her eyes filled with tears.
“Please. There is a need. I want to go to work. How can I pay off the debt?”, Leela’s heart
skipped a beat when she looked into her husband’s eyes.
She was huddled forward and didn’t look at him when he opened the car door. Leela’s
shoulders slumped when her husband refused to allow her to work. The whole day, her
husband’s stern words kept ringing in her ears. Thereafter, the ambulance siren growled into
silence in front of my house. Outside, my brother was lying with a broken leg. As you can
imagine, Leela felt horrendous panic and she cries her eyes out.
“Oh my god! Don’t you have eyes?” she asked and give bear hug to her husband. Leela
read a letter came from the office where Ravi works. It was written that Ravi should not come
to work for a period of time. A single tear rolled down her cheek. Thus, Ravi started to whisper
to himself how he should pay the debt. Leela walked toward her husband and said, “I will go
to work to pay off the debt,’’.He reluctantly agreed. She worked as a maid in her neighbor’s
house around the clock. Simultaneously, she knew how to cure her husband. When he slept
she looked at him sadly and wept.
Over time, Ravi was proud of his wife. Because being a woman, his wife not only paid off
the debt but also looked after the family. On that occasion, he realized that men and women
are equal in everything. He wishes that women have equal opportunities with men even if they
are married. Suddenly, there was a noise come dear come it’s time for dinner. Ravi get up and
saw that was his wife and he walked with pleasure.
