GENDER INEQUALITY : CAREER

Currently, many women are facing the problem of discrimination gender in the workplace. Gender inequality is the most common form of discrimination. Discrimination gender is prejudice or discrimination based on one's sex. Gender inequality in organizations is a complex phenomenon that can be seen in organizational structures, processes, and practices (Cailin S. Stamarski, and Leanne S. Son Hing, 2015). There have many factors that cause discrimination against women and this should not be encouraged in the workplace because it brings bad effects on women.

The main factor in the discrimination against women in the workplace is prejudice and female stereotypes in the company culture. This can be proven by unequal pay. According to Maggie Wooll (2021), In 2020, women earned 84% of what men earned for the same job, and Black and Latina women earned even less. Part of the reason different income still exists in the workplace is that women has be regarded to be a burden and symbol of incompetence in the workplace. For Narayan, the constant undermining of women’s positions is about limiting their identities and their existence (The Lily News, 2018). So, the misinformation about women and impressed causes discrimination against women in the workplace.

The next factor maybe is women are less aware of women working rights and their ability to achieve equality. Women working rights are protected by the laws set up in society, like the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. But unfortunately, most women don't know this and it causes them bullying or harassment. For example, in 2018 non-profits Stop Street Harassment found 81 percent experiencing some form of sexual harassment in their lifetime, including verbal or physical assault (Julie Wilson, 2019). So, women should be aware of their rights to achieve equality in the workplace.

Discrimination will bring bad effects on women. For example, divide discrimination against hers in the workplace. According to Ishizuka, this discrimination likely results from conflict between the perceived time commitments necessary to be a “good mother”. Mothers often face question about the commitment and ability to work variable hours (Sara Savat, 2021). They have to wisely divide their time between family and work. The discrimination they suffer will deprive them of time to spend with their families and make them feel stressed and anxious.

In conclusion, discrimination against women in the workplace should be stopped in the organization, there is no person should be denied a chance of working. If not, discrimination in the workplace work destroys the working situation harmony and affects the whole organizations tend to extinct. Thus, everyone, no matter male or female, must get a start in life in terms of working opportunities to build a healthy and perfect workplace for everyone.
