GENDER INEQUALITY : CAREER

The process of globalization is accelerating and the number of working women is also increasing in the world.  However, the problem of gender inequality in the workplace also arises in this phenomenon. Many women in employment argue they are facing vast inequality gaps among men in the workplace. This problem causes them stress and anxiety while working. So, I believe this gender inequality against women was wrong and this should not be continuous.

The fight against gender discrimination has some progress has been made. More laws have given women fairly working rights in the workplace. For example, the Equal Pay Act was passed in 1963, making it a law to pay equal wages to men and women in all workplaces (Maggie Wooll, 2021). These laws have been the solid backing for women to escape from gender inequality in the workplace. Women's working opportunities and their rights were protected by the law. If anyone tries to break this rule, they will be severely punished. So, gender inequality against women was wrong that the laws in society can prove.

Gender inequality is acute and carries many negative implications for the company. According to Robby Berman (2018), women work 10 percent harder than men. Both men and women complete about 66 percent of their assigned work but women are assigned 10 percent more work than men. So, a systematic organization will not exclude anyone, regardless of male or female. But if gender inequality against women still happens, it may increase the resignation percentage of working women or cause mass departures. This will affect productive companies. So, gender inequality will influence companies and it should not be continuous.

There are some ideas that women should not be empowered in the workplace because women can't contribute better than men. In fact, female workers are considered as an element that cannot be removed from the organization because they are related to organizational effectiveness and growth. Not only does a higher percentage of women in an organization predict less burnout, but more job satisfaction, organizational dedication, and meaningful work as well (Jantra, 2022). According to UN Women (2018), it is estimated that companies with three or more women in senior management functions score higher in all dimensions of organizational performance. So, women can be empowered in the workplace.

Gender inequality against women in the workplace is wrong, it should not be continuous in company culture. Nowadays, the fight against gender inequality has made some progress.  women have the right to protect what they want or need from malice in the workplace. Their working opportunities should not be manipulated by anyone or any organization.
