GENDER INEQUALITY : EDUCATION CAN CHANGE WOMEN’S LIFE
Nelson Mandela once quoted that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you
can use to change the world." Yes, education is the key to wrestling with a hot potato issue
nowadays which refers to gender inequality. I strongly believe that education can solve the
inequality threat to women.Through education, women can protect and defend their rights themselves.
Discrimination in law is common. According to the research from UM Women (2019), there are
more than 2.5 billion women around the world who are affected by discriminatory laws and lack
of legal protection. Ginsburg, a lawyer known as a "feminist folk hero.", fought laws that
discriminate based on gender (Meghan.C, 2020). Through the understanding of the law, women
can voice up their thoughts and fight against this long-standing prejudice. Obviously, education
provides women empowerment in tackling laws that discriminate against women.
Furthermore, education can bring changes in the health profile of women all over the
world. There is a 50% chance of an educated mother protecting herself and her children from
illnesses if she is educated and it is more likely that her child could survive past age five
(Theirworld, 2022). This is due to the fact that education acts as a guide to awaken women
about the threat of illness as well as increase their awareness of the causes of various diseases
among them. Education creates weapons like doctors who cure these diseases (wikiessays,
2018). Surely, a better education enhances women's health.
On the other hand, some people may think that a woman's place is in the home, not in
the workplace. So, it is useless for them to receive education. However, I totally disagree with
this statement. Nowadays the roles of women are recognized in different significant industries.
As illustration, Kathrin Jansen led the effort at Pfizer that produced the first vaccine approved for
emergency use (Ms. Editors, 2021). Of course, being a stay at home mother is not considered
as women’s work. Men and women can also switch their duties in completing the house chores.
In a nutshell, education is a critical investment that should be made. An educated
woman will feel more motivated to bring about change in society as well as become the guiding
light for them. Thus, our nation will reach its zenith when all women have been provided equal
opportunities in education.
