GENDER INEQUALITY : ISSUE FACED BY LISA IN WORKPLACE






A Gender Inequality Issue which is Faced by Lisa in Her Workplace

    It was the first day of new year, all the colleagues were came into company earlier.
They were more than thrilled to the bits. It was obvious from their animate actions and
exaggerated tones. In the early morning, the sun rose majestically in the sky heralding the
down of a glorious new day. The radiant rays of sun brought hope and vigour, it was a
salubrious weather.

    That morning, it was the day for announcement the new leader of the finance
department. Moreover, Jason and Lisa were the colleagues who were potential and capable
to hold the position. Jason was a punctual and assiduous men who were always came on time
to the company and did his work conscientiously. Besides, he was a responsible person.
However, Lisa was and peerless girls and equipped with leadership qualities. She was helpful
and always came in earlier in to her position and completed her tasks neat and tidy.

    Furthermore, Nick was a savvy and epitome boss of the company. He made a
judicious suggestion that all the colleagues should take part in a meeting to vote one of them
to become the new leader of finance department. While the meeting was going on, a conflict
had been happened among the men and women colleagues. Nick furrowed his eyebrows,
‘What is taking you all so long?’ he scowled. Disapproval was written all over his face. Men
did not strongly agree that women can be an excellent leader. However, women were
energetically support Micky and they thought that she had the ability to hold the position.

    Both of them were sagacious and sedulous. But Lisa had more experienced and
knowledgeable in finance. Suddenly, Nick had promoted Jason. Stupefied, all the colleagues
turned speechless. ‘What?’ Lisa exclaimed in disbelief. She left the meeting room with the
sinking heart. At the same time, Jason flashed a broad grin at boss and ‘Thank you, my boss!’
he chuckled with joy.

    Lisa was sad that her golden opportunity to become the leader had gone with the
wind. Her 30 years working experience and effort were not recognized. Her eyes reddened
and turned moist. Her face was etched with sorrow and her heart ached.

    The next day, Lisa came to the company with an angry manner. Her face turned
red with anger and her unblinking eyes flashed with anger. Everybody was shocked. She had
met the boss and asked for resign. She thought that the issue of gender inequality in the
company had became an execrable level which will jeopardise her future. Her action had given
a chagrin to Nick.

    After that, Lisa was walking out of the company’s main door alone and it was raining
cats and dogs outside…
