GENDER INEQUALITY : MUSIC INDUSTRY
Equality, or non-discrimination, is the state in which everyone is given equal opportunities and rights (Dictionary of the Social Sciences,2002). Everyone in the community longs for equality, opportunity, and ownership. However, it is generally accepted that there is more discrimination between people. Gender-based inequality is a global concern. Even in the 21st century, men and women worldwide have not enjoyed equal rights. There is always gender inequality in all aspects. The music industry is one of them. And the person being discriminated against is clearly a female. Are there opportunities for women in the music industry that must be provided?
For starters, yes. If women get involved in the music industry, it will help them develop their leadership skills. For example, in the music industry, when they open a studio and train many other music artists, it will indirectly develop their leadership skills because they are training others, leading others, and thinking wisely about how to run the studio. They also frequently motivate and inspire other women to think in new ways and overcome obstacles.
Furthermore, if there is a chance given to women to involve themselves in the music industry, it will help them to pursue their dreams and talents, as well as work toward their goals by pursuing careers of their choice. Some girls out there are worried because they don’t get a better place to show off their talent and their interest in the music field. So, when women are given the opportunity to participate in the music industry, it allows them to showcase their talent to the world and gain recognition. For instance, the "Piece by Piece" singer Kelly Clarkson, whose parents divorced when she was 6 years old, grew up in a conservative Texas home and now who is one of the best-selling artists of the 2000s.This example shows that when we give women the correct chance at the correct time, they will use the chance correctly and achieve their goals.
On the flip side, those who disagree with these ideas may say that women cannot lead the music industry well and that they are born to do housework and take care of their families. Mostly in India, girls are treated like that, and they are slowly giving up on their dreams. The music industry also fails to give them a chance to be involved simply because they are female.
To summarize, women are always discriminated against more than men in this world. And until now, I really don’t get the answer: why is it like that? I will strictly tell women that they also must be given the same level of chance as men in all aspects, especially in the music industry, which will help them achieve their goals and have a successful and bright future. As women, we must band together and speak up for our rights.
