GENDER INEQUALITY : OPPURTUNITY BIASED ON GENDER

    Revolution in modern era are gradually started to change the growing gender

inequality.According to Oxford University Press(2022),gender inequality refer to the social

process in which people are treated differently and disadvantageously on the basis of gender.

But ,I still strongly believe that in another corner of the world ,women are still experience limited

opportunity in sport.

   

     There are many areas and aspect in sport which clearly show the limited opportunity posses

for female. Women poses limited opportunity in society recognition.Despite the huge success

of women as a team, they are still executed from the pre-olympic marketing plan. Study shows

women only receive about 4% of sport coverage among 40% of them. On top of that ,Women

are given limited exposure to participate in sport.According to studies, high school in America

are providing 1.3 million less opportunity for young female to participate in sport. Besides the

availability of trained coaches are scared among the female community.As most of the coach

consist of men who are constantly focus on boy’s program only. The series of inequality had

resulted women to lose confident to participate in the sport as they have to bear the

consequences of being getting bullied and isolated. Women poses limited opportunity in

accessing to the athletic welfare and compete fairly against the men counterpart..According

to the 2021 NCAA Tournament in San Antonio ,Washington women are given an empty

ballroom which only consist of yoga mats and one rack of dumbells. Contradictory ,the men

in Indianapolis were given fully decked outweight room to train in. This inequalities had leaded

to extreme physical demand of female athlete to compete against the male counterpart.

    Besides, according to The Equal Pay Act stated that men and women are paid equally under

identical working conditions.This is crucial in combacting unfair competition and employee

wage suppression.Series of proof stated that women are given opportunity in sport but we

also can’t deny the marganalisation of society towards women. According to Steve

Mccaskill(2022),until 2019 there are just 5.4 percent of Sport Centre’s airtime devoted to

woman sport.Thus this solid figure proved that woman are still lacks of opportunity as there is

insufficient media coverage.

    The issue of gender inequalities posses large negative impact towards a person life and

health.Every authority should work together in order to break down this unhealthy society

chain and provide equal opportunity for women to indulge in the sport.
