The Factor of Gender Inequality Problem in Workplace and Solution to
Overcome It
Nowadays, there is no denying the fact that gender inequality in workplace has became
a burning issue in our society. Gender inequality is the sosial phenomenon which discriminate
among men and women. Therefore, they are not treated equally. Across 34 countries
surveyed by Pew Research Center (2020), a median of 94% thinks it is vital for women in their
country should have the same rights as men. Gender inequality in workplace is such an
insurmountable problems which is caused by inequally opportunity. There are lots of salutary
solutions to overcome the problem as every could has a silver lightning.
First and foremost, vividly, historically, people believed that men are classicfied at work
however women are classified at home. So that, people thinks men is more suitable to hold
the high-paying positions although women are more capable. Besides, people have believed
men are more epitome to be leader comparing to women not because of capableness. Given
the same level of qualifications, manager rate women as having less promotion potential than
men (Roth et al., 2012). It is grossly unfair for the women as a result, it will affect the friendly
and peaceful ambience of the workplace.
Furthermore, unquestionably, leader of company should conduct a campaign to raise
awareness.This method is a stepping stone to bring knowledge why important to treat equally
among men and women and what are the serious remification if ignoring it. In addition, leader
must pay attention with whole heartedly in to this issue as it can jeopardise the relationships
of colleagues and company’s performance. By the way, leader must be a excellent role model
and avoid getting involved in this issue. For example, leader can provide equal learning and
development opportunities to all the calleagues. It is because, women are less often promoted
to higher position and less opportunity to perform their ability than men in organization (Perry
et al., 1994).
Moreover, company should organise sufficient events to foster the relationship among
calleagues. Undoubtedly, it has given a golden opportunity to colluegues to have interaction.
Last but not least, company can have celebration of International Women Day on 8 March
every year. It is the time to celebrate women’s accomplishments and check on workplace and
see whether they persuade gender equality for example provide flexible working to promote
equality in the workplace. Accorfing to Singley & Hynes (2005), flexible working can be used
as a positive capability spanning resource useful for workers, especially women, to adapt their
work to family demands.
In conclusion, there are countless way to control the situation of gender inequality in
workplace to prevent it become more serious, as we know prevention is better than cure. It is
prerequisite to overcome the prevalent problem without dilly-dally, just as a pearl of wisdom
depicts, ‘procrastination is the thief of time’. So that. It can create a equally community.
